●殺すぞと脅かす threaten sb with death; threaten to kill sb

・武力をもって脅かす intimidate with military force; threaten to use military force

・暴力をふるうぞと脅かす threaten to use violence

・脅かして追い払う scare [frighten] sb away [off]

・脅かして従わせる[白状させる, 酒をやめさせる] frighten [scare, cow] sb into submission [confessing, giving up drinking].

●人を脅かしちゃいけない. You shouldn't scare people like that.

・10 年前には零細企業だったわが社が今では大手を脅かすまでになった. Our company, which ten years ago was only a small business, is now big enough to make the big companies worried.

・大衆の支持を背景に彼は現政権を脅かすまでに力をつけてきた. He has become strong enough, thanks to the popular backing he enjoys, to put fear into the Prime Minister's camp.

・強い紫外線はわれわれの健康を脅かす. Strong ultraviolet rays threaten [endanger] our health.

・そのチームは優勝候補を大いに脅かすだろう. That team will give the strong teams a lot to worry about.
